My daughter called me from college this morning.  I answered and made sure she was okay and then told her that I was in the middle of something and would talk to her later.  She asked me what I was doing- and I said I was meeting with a client who was also a friend.  My client/friend and I laughed about it but I realized how important having that sense of community can be be for small business owners.

There are of course, many ways to foster friendship and community with your ‘tribe,’ but one that has been gaining traction over the past few years and is low cost (in money though not necessarily time) is a Facebook group.  There are some unique benefits to using a Facebook group for your marketing efforts.

First, the ever-changing Facebook algorithm typically gives group posts more visibility than business page posts. Groups also allow you to ‘outsource’ some of the content creation to your community as other people will likely post more than you do. And as you’d expect, groups also allow and encourage conversations more than pages because of the first two items listed above!

If you want to learn more about how Facebook groups can help you connect and engage your target audiences for long-term profit, our next workshop focuses specifically on using Facebook groups and is next Wednesday, October 19th at 4:30pm.

Join Sue Kearney of Magnolias West and me one or both of our upcoming workshops. You can come to one or two of the remaining workshops to learn how to get the most out of your money and, more importantly, for small business owners, your time!
