Owl tell you a secret
OK. It’s not really a secret.
The biggest bang for your marketing effort (and expense) is most likely a regular email newsletter to your potential, current and former clients. If you want to get fancy, you can also send client specific emails – like birthday notes or reminders that they haven’t had a visit in a while – but a simple regular newsletter works wonders for most of my clients. EVEN if it doesn’t get opened. REALLY.
My hypotheses about it (though I haven’t tested these):
1. You remind your clientele and prospects that you exist (even if they don’t open it)
2. You are showing your expertise by sharing your wisdom
3. Clients and prospects get to ‘know, like and trust’ you more through regular interactions
4. Did I say that you remind your clientele that you exist already?
Here are a few of the tools that I use to do mine for no (or very low) out-of-pocket costs:
Mailchimp– this is the system I use to design the campaign; manage my lists/subscribers and send the emails out. It’s free for up to 2000 email addresses.
Morguefile– I like to include a photo or image and morguefile.com has images that are free. It sometimes takes me a little while to find one I like, but I can usually figure something out.
Picmonkey– this is a new addition to my toolkit. I used to use a free photo editor on my laptop called Gimp but I recently switched to Picmonkey and it is AWESOME! It lets me do cool effects and fun fonts. Do you like the owl above? The original was this one from morguefile.com- I did about ten minutes worth of editing using Picmonkey:
I do pay for the Royale service (and full disclosure, the link for picmonkey is an affiliate one to give me more Royale time for free )
Add me to your list! I’d love to see your next newsletter.
